The Aging Process and Caring for Your Neck

As we’ve said before, the neck is one of the areas that tattles to others about our true age versus how the rest of our skin looks.  Unfortunately, the neck is one of the most abused areas of the skin and body.  Even people who make sure to use sunscreen on their faces and elsewhere seem to neglect to protect the neck.  Because the neck is usually left unprotected and therefore constantly exposed to the sun’s rays, it ages faster than necessary from sun damage.  Usually it is sun damage and not chronological age the causes the neck to have a poor appearance.  Besides using sunscreen products such as Glytone that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, there are treatments that can enhance the contours of the neck to counteract sun damage and chronological aging.  One excellent tool is an Ultheraphy treatment. After receiving this energy-based, non-surgical intervention the skin tightens and lifts because the sub-dermal structures of the skin are stimulated by collagen production.  Laser skin resurfacing and tightening can also restore the appearance of a more youthful neck.  Finally, Botox can be used to help with platysmal bands in the neck.  Schedule a consultation today to learn more.
